Manuka is the native New Zealand Maori name for this tree. Bioactive Manuka honey has an exceptional compound called Methylglyoxal (MGO) not found in regular honey. Methylglyoxal (MGO) is directly responsible for the antibacterial activity of Manuka honey.
Australian by Nature Manuka Honey is sourced from high density, 100% organic and pollution-free Manuka forests in far North New Zealand. It is a potent antibacterial and antiviral agent and is the only honey available which has been tested for its antibacterial activity.
Unlike other honey, the antibacterial activity of Manuka honey is very stable. It is not affected by light, heat nor dilution, making it very effective in the treatment of many ailments. The tested strength of Manuka honey can be determined by the activity factor, which is represented by a number. The higher the number, the stronger the antimicrobial ingredient and the more potent the bioactivity of the honey.
